Kundalini Tantra Yoga: Rooted in the Earth

This Kundalini Tantra yoga class invites you to connect with the stability, strength, and grounding energy of the earth element. Through postures, breathwork, and meditation, we’ll cultivate a sense of inner peace and connection to the physical world.

The Practice:

  • Opening: We’ll begin with grounding practices. Sitting in Sukhasana (Easy Pose), we’ll root down through our sitting bones and feel the connection to the earth. Pranayama (breathwork) exercises like Bhastrika (Bellows Breath) will energize the body and prepare us for movement.

  • Kriya: Our kriya sequence will focus on postures that stimulate the Muladhara (root chakra), the seat of our primal energy and connection to the earth. We might explore Virabhadrasana (Warrior Pose) variations to build strength and stability or practice Tadasana (Mountain Pose) with Muladhara Bandha (root lock) to awaken the core.

  • Meditation: In meditation, we’ll visualize ourselves as strong, resilient trees. We’ll root down deep into the earth, drawing up stability and grounding energy. As we breathe, we’ll imagine our breath flowing through our body like a stream, nourishing and cleansing.

  • Closing: We’ll end the class in Savasana (Corpse Pose), feeling the deep relaxation that comes from connecting with the earth’s supportive presence.

Themes and Benefits:

  • Grounding: This class will emphasize postures and practices that connect us to the earth’s stability. You’ll leave feeling more centred and balanced.
  • Strength: We’ll explore postures that build physical and mental strength, mirroring the solidity of the earth.
  • Security: By connecting with the earth’s energy, we cultivate a sense of security and safety within ourselves.
  • Sensuality: The earth element is also associated with sensuality and connection to the physical world. This class will help you reconnect with your body and its inherent wisdom.

Kundalini Tantra Yoga: Flowing like Water

In this Kundalini Tantra yoga class, we’ll surrender to the fluidity, adaptability, and emotional wisdom of the water element. Through postures, breathwork, and meditation, we’ll cultivate emotional release, intuition, and a sense of going with the flow.

The Practice:

  • Opening: We’ll begin with gentle stretches and breathwork exercises to warm up the body and soften any rigidity. Spinal rolls and side bends will help us become more fluid and receptive.

  • Kriya: Our kriya sequence will focus on postures that mimic the movement of water. We might explore wave-like motions in Cat-Cow Pose variations, or practice flowing transitions between balancing postures like Vrikshasana (Tree Pose). Breathwork will incorporate Kapalbhati (Skull-Shining Breath) to cleanse and energize.

  • Meditation: In meditation, we’ll visualize ourselves as a calm lake or a flowing river. We’ll allow our thoughts and emotions to arise and pass through us like currents, without judgment. As we breathe, we’ll connect with the water’s inherent tranquility and emotional wisdom.

  • Closing: We’ll end the class in Savasana (Corpse Pose), feeling the deep relaxation and peace that comes from surrendering to the flow.

Themes and Benefits:

  • Fluidity: This class will emphasize postures and breathwork that promote a sense of ease and flow within the body and mind.
  • Emotional Release: By connecting with the water element, we can release pent-up emotions and cultivate emotional intelligence.

Kundalini Tantra Yoga: Ignite Your Inner Fire

In this Kundalini Tantra yoga class, we’ll stoke the flames of our inner fire, cultivating willpower, transformation, and dynamic energy. Through postures, breathwork, and meditation, we’ll awaken our courage, passion, and tap into the transformative power that lies within.

The Practice:

  • Opening: We’ll begin with energizing breathwork like Bhastrika (Bellows Breath) and Kapalbhati (Skull-Shining Breath) to build heat and awaken the body. Sun salutations or jumping jacks will further increase circulation and focus the mind.

  • Kriya: Our kriya sequence will focus on postures that generate heat and challenge our limitations. We might explore Navasana (Boat Pose) variations to strengthen the core fire, or practice Agni Sara (Fire Purifier) to stimulate the digestive fire. Breathwork will incorporate Bhastrika (Bellows Breath) to stoke the internal fire.

  • Meditation: In meditation, we’ll visualize ourselves as a radiant source of light, burning brightly with purpose and passion. We’ll focus on our will and determination, allowing them to burn away negativity and self-doubt. As we breathe, we’ll feel the transformative power of fire coursing through our body.

  • Kriya: Our kriya sequence will focus on postures that open the chest, shoulders, and hips, promoting a sense of lightness and spaciousness within the body. We might explore variations of Dhanurasana (Bow Pose) to open the chest and back, or practice Vayu Mudra (Air Gesture) to stimulate the flow of prana (life force energy) throughout the body. Breathwork will incorporate Kapalbhati (Skull-Shining Breath) to cleanse and energize.

  • Meditation: In meditation, we’ll visualize ourselves as weightless feathers, carried effortlessly on the currents of air. We’ll focus on our breath, allowing thoughts to come and go like passing clouds. As we breathe, we’ll cultivate a sense of mental clarity and connection to the vastness of the universe.

  • Closing: We’ll end the class in Savasana (Corpse Pose), feeling the deep relaxation and peace that comes from surrendering to the flow of air.

  • Tantra: Tantra incorporates breathwork (pranayama), postures (asanas), and sometimes meditation to balance the body’s energy channels (nadis) and awaken the chakras (energy centres).

Class Focus:

  • Breathwork and Movement: Kundalini Tantra Yoga integrates specific postures and movements with breathwork (pranayama) to raise, flow, and balance energy within the body.
  • Spinal and Core Work: Many exercises emphasize spinal movements and core engagement, promoting flexibility and core strength.
  • Emotional Release: The practice incorporates movements and breathwork designed to release stored emotions and tension.

What to expect after?

  • Healing and Vitality:  Kundalini Tantra Yoga can promote healing, increase vitality, and enhance emotional well-being.
  • Spiritual Growth: The practice is said to foster spiritual development and a deeper connection to your inner self.

Important Note:

  • Variations Exist: While the core principles remain consistent, Kundalini Tantra Yoga can vary depending on the instructor’s approach. Some classes might incorporate more chanting or mantras than others.

Sound therapy with Tibetan singing bowls is an ancient form of regeneration. The first bowls were made from an alloy of various metals and were used already 6000 years ago in the Far East. Tibetan singing bowls area a mysterious acoustic phenomenon, which was discovered by “spiritual tourists” in the Himalayas and after the Chinese invasion of Tibet appeared also in Europe and the USA.

The sound of Tibetan singing bowls and the gong harmonizes and allows deep relaxation of both sides of the brain. It stimulates stress relief on all levels and the elimination of toxins from the body. After sound therapy emotions are calm and the mind clearer and the sound vibrations have an effect on the body after the singing bowls have been played on it.

Ildiko Bakos

Yoga Teacher, Ayurvedic Massage Therapist and Reiki Master

India ignited Ildy's passion for yoga in 2000. A transformative month-long yoga course in Auroville sparked a fire within, leading her to return to India for a Yoga Teacher Training course. This experience solidified the profound connection between yoga and her well-being. Since then, yoga has become an inseparable thread in the fabric of Ildy's life. Her teaching style is informed by a deep understanding cultivated through continuous learning and personal experience. Sharing this ancient art and science with others is a true honour. As Ildy embarked on her yoga journey, the profound connection between mind and body became clear. Yoga postures, or asanas, are not merely physical exercises; they are tools to cultivate awareness, healing, and clarity for the mind, body, and spirit. This mind-body connection, she realised, allows us to return to the present moment and truly understand ourselves. Through yoga, Ildy discovered inner peace and the importance of mindfulness. Ildy's personal practice and teaching and training experiences allow for a unique blend of traditional Indian yoga styles and contemporary approaches. Classes are spontaneous, lighthearted, and designed to create a positive and uplifting learning experience for students. The ultimate goal is to guide you on your journey of self-discovery and connection. While she deeply values yoga's spiritual aspects, Ildy also recognises the importance of the physical body.
