How meditation helped me

The COVID-19 pandemic has affected everyone in some way, and for me, it was a turning point in my life. Before the pandemic, I was constantly on the go, always busy with work, we used the have a yoga studio so i was constantly there. I had little time for self-reflection or personal growth and especially for my own yoga and meditation practice. However, when the pandemic hit, everything changed. We had to close the yoga studio.

As lockdowns and social distancing measures were put in place, I found myself with a lot of free time on my hands. At first, I was bored and anxious about the uncertainty of the situation. But then, I started to explore different ways to occupy my time and reduce my stress levels. That’s when I started to have regular meditation. I joined a group on Facebook with other yoga teachers and we started to get up early each morning as our meditation session started at 6 am each morning.

I had done a lot of meditation before, but I had never made it a daily habit. However, with the extra time on my hands, I decided to commit to a daily practice. At first, it was difficult to sit still and focus on my breath for more than a few minutes. But as I continued to practice, I noticed a significant shift in my mindset and perspective on life.

Meditation helped me to slow down and become more present in the moment. It allowed me to let go of worries about the future and regrets about the past. I started to feel more content with my life as it was, rather than always striving for more.

Meditation helped me to become more self-aware. I started to notice patterns in my thoughts and behaviours that were contributing to my stress and anxiety. With this awareness, I was able to make changes in my life that better aligned with my values and goals. Like practising Yoga every day, and most of the time twice a day. Which meant, morning active yoga and evening more relaxing yoga.

Overall, daily meditation during the pandemic changed my life for the better. It helped me to cultivate a more positive mindset, reduce my stress levels, and become more self-aware. While the pandemic brought many challenges, it also gave me the opportunity to discover the power of meditation and make meaningful changes in my life.
