Kundalini
We share techniques to safely connect with the immense Kundalini energy that is lying dormant in us all.
What Is Kundalini Energy?
Kundalini is a central concept in Tantra Yoga. It refers to a dormant spiritual energy believed to reside at the base of the spine, often symbolised as a coiled serpent. This energy is called Shakti, the divine feminine force behind creation and transformation.
In Kundalini and Tantra Yoga, the purpose is to awaken this energy and guide it upward through the body’s energy centres, known as chakras. As it rises, Kundalini brings about spiritual awakening, deep personal growth, and ultimately self-realisation or liberation.
Â
Why Is Kundalini Important in Tantra Yoga?
Kundalini is:
- Your inner potential energy, waiting to be activated
- Connected to Shakti, the creative power of the universe
- Described in ancient yogic texts, including the Upanishads and Tantras
As Kundalini moves through the chakras, it symbolises the journey from survival instincts and emotional blocks to higher awareness and inner freedom.
Â
How Is Kundalini Awakened?
Tantra Yoga offers practical techniques to gently awaken and support the flow of Kundalini energy, such as:
- Asana (physical postures)
- Pranayama (breathwork)
- Mantra (chanting)
- Meditation
- Specific energy-based practices like Sanjeevani Kriya and Om Chakra Meditation
These tools help prepare the body and mind, allowing the energy to move safely and naturally through the chakra system.
Â
Benefits of Kundalini Awakening
Physical:Â Improved energy, vitality, and overall health
Mental:Â Greater focus, emotional stability, and peace of mind
Spiritual:Â Deeper awareness, intuition, and a sense of connection with the divine
Transformational:Â Healing of past trauma, release of limiting patterns, and personal growth
Â
Who Can Practice Kundalini Tantra Yoga?
This path is open to all levels, not just experienced yogis. Kundalini Tantra Yoga is a holistic system that integrates the physical, mental, and spiritual aspects of life. You can move at your own pace and explore the practices in a way that feels right for you.
That said, because Kundalini awakening can be a powerful experience, it’s best approached with the support of an experienced teacher or guide.
Â
Clearing Up a Common Misconception
Kundalini Tantra Yoga is often misunderstood. It is not solely about sexuality or ritual. It is a complete and profound spiritual path that includes breathwork, meditation, sound, and self-inquiry, aiming to lead you toward higher consciousness and inner liberation.
Â
Tantra
Yoga was primarily focussed on meditation and a life of renunciation until the Tantrics developed physical methods to support the practice. The Tantrics built on what the Rishis discovered (the pioneers of yoga who dedicated their lives to spiritual development) and made it mainstream by creating techniques that could be used by everyday people without the time to dedicate their entire lives to yoga or the desire to cut themselves off from the rest of society. This is one of several reasons why Tantra is especially relevant for modern day teachers.
Originally, tantra and yoga were not divided and before this there was not even a name for such practitioners but it has come to be something distinct. The key difference is that instead of ideals of many yogis who remove themselves from the world only to remain in ashrams or high up the Himalayas, where understanding is sought through abstinence; tantrics seek to understand through experience.
Desires are a part of life and not something we need hide away from. However, there is a difference between experiencing it with full awareness and mindless intoxicating oneself and thus we need to learn to liberate ourselves from the mind and body and return as pure consciousness.
This does require periods of withdrawal as it is much easier to be fully aware when life is simple – which is why yogis choose this life but there’s no need to remain here.
Â
This falls back to our aims of helping people re-enter the world through a new understanding of themselves and life around it. Tantra is not only about being fully present but also about understanding the underlying energy structures at play so you can create and adjust them to your needs. There are degrees of depth to these practices but you only need go as far as you need at this particular place in your life journey.
Yoga
Almost all the predominantly physical yoga “styles” popular in the west today have their roots in Hatha Yoga. Hatha yoga focussed on the physical aspects of tantra and enhanced them further producing the highest understanding of purifying and maintaining the body, as well as increasing our understanding of the connection between body and mind.
Â
Yoga is a great example of a word that had an original meaning but has taken on many others in people’s minds. If it kept its original meaning we would not need to complicate things further than simply using this word which means to unite. That is to unite the two sides of life; Shiva and Shakti, consciousness and energy, static and dynamic, feminine and masculine.
This two sided reality displays itself in many ways through all dimensions of life, particularly the 3 dimensions (physical, mental and spiritual) or 5 koshas (layers of self).
Meet the Teachers

Sri Vijay Anand (PhD)
Tantric Master and Spiritual Guide
Meet Sri Vijay Anand, a dedicated practitioner of Tantric Hatha Yoga since the tender age of 5. Rooted in the sacred teachings of Shiva’s Tattwa Gyan and Swar Yog, he weaves a tapestry of profound knowledge through the 72,000 Nadis, the subtle pathways of prana. Inspired by the 112 Shiva Sutras from the Vigyan Bhairav Tantra, he has mastered the art of combining these ancient teachings with the transformative principles of Kaya Kalp – Ayurveda’s body rejuvenation techniques. A scion of the esteemed lineage of Rishi Vashistha, one of the revered Saptarishis known for their profound understanding of Shiva’s knowledge and Upanishad wisdom, Sri Vijay Anand embodies the essence of ancient wisdom passed down through generations. Sri Vijay Anand’s mission extends beyond borders, spanning across 50 countries. His work is dedicated to advancing the physical, mental, and spiritual well-being of humanity. Through powerful Kundalini Tantra Yoga and well-being projects, transformative teacher training courses, and voluntary contributions to public service initiatives, he has left an indelible mark on communities around the world.

Ildiko Bakos (Ildy)
Senior Yoga Teacher and Reiki Master
India ignited Ildy’s passion for yoga in 2000. A transformative month-long yoga course in Auroville sparked a fire within, leading her to return to India for a Yoga Teacher Training course. This experience solidified the profound connection between yoga and her well-being. Since then, yoga has become an inseparable thread in the fabric of Ildy’s life. Her teaching style is informed by a deep understanding cultivated through continuous learning and personal experience. Sharing this ancient art and science with others is a true honour. As Ildy embarked on her yoga journey, the profound connection between mind and body became clear. Yoga postures, or asanas, are not merely physical exercises; they are tools to cultivate awareness, healing, and clarity for the mind, body, and spirit. This mind-body connection, she realised, allows us to return to the present moment and truly understand ourselves. Through yoga, Ildy discovered inner peace and the importance of mindfulness. Ildy’s personal practice and teaching and training experiences allow for a unique blend of traditional Indian yoga styles and contemporary approaches. Classes are spontaneous, lighthearted, and designed to create a positive and uplifting learning experience for students. The ultimate goal is to guide you on your journey of self-discovery and connection. While she deeply values yoga’s spiritual aspects, Ildy also recognises the importance of the physical body.

In the process he feels both the artist and the model end up getting transformed in ways beyond their own control, the art becomes the universal truth. It is his art practice and constant search for deeper meanings of life that exposed him to the idea of Tantra Massage Therapy and he took the plunge to explore deeper.
He has been practising Tantra Massage along with his art practice for more than 15 years.
Manjunath expresses his gratitude to his teacher/Guru, Sri Vijay Anand, and it is he who pointed out to him his deeper potential as a Tantra practitioner and encouraged him to continue his practice, process to get in touch with deeper self and divine within.
Dust gathers, cleansing is a constant process. But before we learn to cleanse, one must accept that the dust has been accumulated, it is this realisation that helps us to become grounded and work on oneself.
