Frequently Asked Questions
New to yoga? Here’s what you need to now before you start practising.
During Yoga Class
Do not eat before class
Do not eat a full meal for a minimum of 2 hours before class because it is uncomfortable to practise yoga with a full stomach. If you want to practice yoga and feel hungry, then preferably eat fruit or a snack.
Avoid drinking during class
Drinking water is not recommended during class. You may sweat as you exercise, but not so much that you will dry out within an hour. Regardless, if you feel you need it, don’t hold back.
Be patient with yourself
Be patient with yourself. Be gentle with your body during practice. Yoga is not a competitive sport, no one expects you to perform. Instead, get to know your limits and give yourself time to develop.
Clothing, Hair, Jewellery
It is important to be comfortable and be able to move and breathe easily. Loose tops and stretchy fabrics work best. You won’t need shoes, so please don’t bring them into the room.
If you have long hair, it’s best to tie it back. If you have jewellery, it’s best to take it off for your class. If you have socks, take them off during class and put them back on at the end.
Bags, belongings, phone
You can take your bag & other belongings with you to the yoga room, and leave them next to you. Please set your phone to be silent during class.
Tell the instructor about your injuries and health problems
This is important so that we can take this into account when adjusting. Otherwise, it is a general rule (not just in case of injury) that if you feel pain you need to come out of the pose. No one knows your body better than you, and yoga is about getting to know your body and finding out what works for you and what doesn’t.
Slow down and breathe
During the lessons, try to breathe steadily and deeply. Instead of trying to put on a show doing the poses, focus on the breath and on breathing steadily and deeply while you are holding them.
If you can't do a pose, skip it
We will provide instructions for how to modify poses and it’s completely acceptable to skip a pose if it’s not working for you. You can rest in a basic pose known as Child’s Pose any time you need a break.
Arrive early
Arrive at the class 10 minutes before the start of the class so you can prepare your space and ground yourself before you begin.
Book your class
Make sure you book before hand. If you haven’t booked, and need to pay for the class, then please arrive 15 minutes before the start of the class.
If you think you are going to be late please call or text the teacher: Ildy 07542307646
